Today the MBTA announced a package of new pilot programs aimed at creating flexible and fair fare options in the wake of COVID-19.

The Flex-Pass pilot program will begin on July 1 and will allow customers to purchase a bundled fare good for five days within any 30 day period, which will yield a 10% savings for the rider when compared to the price of purchasing five round trip tickets.

Changes have also been made to the Youth Pass program. Starting July 1 Youth Pass Holders will be able to purchase half-price commuter rail tickets at ticket windows, onboard, and via the mTicket app.

The commuter rail will also be extending the expiration dates of mTickets that expired after March 10, 2020, which will be extended by 90 days.
